Get Out There!
An illustrated return to nature.
Illustrating to inspire viewers to ‘Get Out There’.
Two years after the pandemic, the National Eczema Association (NEA) tasked me with creating a series of illustrations that showed a diverse group of people celebrating their return to normal. This series was for their ‘Get Out There’-themed Eczema Expo.
Brainstorming with NEA’s creative team, we came up with a list of environments, activities, and people to include in the series. They wanted to cover a diverse range of activities so that any viewer could relate. These illustrations needed to spark a desire to be active and return to nature.
I started out by sketching out a few different options for each environment. I worked with NEA’s art director to finalize the composition before moving on to vectors.
I wanted the landscapes to be as much of a character as the characters themselves. By making them a focal point, I was inviting the viewer to jump into the illustration and be a part of the fun!
